It felt good to get out and participate in the Nike Human Race 2009. Last year, I ran it, but this year I had to walk, but tried to walk as fast as possible. Now having the screws removed from my leg, I feel much better and can tell that I should be back to a faster pace soon.

The weather was a chilly 41 degrees fahrenheit and maybe even a little colder along the Arkansas River. It’s Fort Smith Frontierfest by the river this weekend, so it was neat so see all the tents at River Park and all the folks dressed in their early 1900s period clothing as they all started to wake and prepare for the day.

As of this posting, I’ve ranked #8,954 out of thousands of runners, so at least I didn’t finish last. It took me an hour and 36 minutes to walk the 10K (6.21 miles). I’m already looking forward to the Nike Human Race next year.
